SUNDAY: arrived at 5am, cabbed to Mar's apt, napped for 3 hours, walking tour of the South End & Mar's campus (BU), brunch at Masa, bought our Charlie Cards and took the T to Copley Square, then Harvard & Harvard Square, where i pretended to be a student and then had cow tracks ice cream (peanut butter cups in sweet cream ice cream) at JP Licks (thanks Yelp), T back to downtown/Boston Common.. gorgeous weather! our out of shape California selves were pooped by then so we headed home and ordered Italian dinner in, and watched HIMYM..MONDAY: oh no, rain! tricia and i were left alone to fend for ourselves on the mean streets of boston while Mar went to class. took the T back to Copley Square and walked thru the shops at Prudential to find the Duck Tours (a woo ooh!) . Got a funny driver and took a tour of Boston via land and sea (quack quack). It started to rain hard while on the tour, and by the time we got back to Prudential the rain was pouring and the wind was blowing so hard we couldn't keep our umbrellas from flipping inside out. Went back to the shops and had Seafood Chowdah... from the food court! haha, but it was good! killed some time waiting for the rain to die down, then headed towards Newbury Street and explored like two blocks before the rain picked up and we decided to call it a day cuz it was getting tooo hard to walk around! Pasta leftovers for dinner & prep for NEWYORK!
tuesday: overslept, wrong bus, lots of transfers = missing our bus to NY. paid an extra $5 for a later bus, had McDonalds for breakfast and sat behind loud college kids for the 4 hour trip. attempted to read but gave up shortly. Megabus dropped us near Madison Square Garden and we cab it to Nam's apt, which is NIIIICE. like, really, really nice! dropped off our stuff, and headed to Times Square to buy our MetroCard & head towards Chinatown for lunch. i'm pretty sure we walked the entire length of Chinatown to get to Mar's lunchspot of choice Joe Shanghai, but it was reallyyy good (i still think about it and crave it, haha)! sat with strangers at a round table and i had to give up and use a fork because i didn't want them judging my chopstick skills (or lack thereof). enjoyed soup dumplings, scallion pancakes & panfried noodles for lunch, then pushed our way back to the subway and back to Times Square. TKTS was already sold out of Lil Mermaid tickets so we went to the official box office and bought tickets.. separately! but that's okay. browsed the stores in Times Square for quite some time (Mar left after Toys R Us), went to Sanrio Luxe, and just killed time before our show. back to nam's, cabbed to SoHo, Le Esquina OMG! thats definitely a story to be told on its own, walked thru Soho, the village, NYU, to chelsea and dessert at cafeteria. cab back and slept in a male models bed for the night (too bad he wasn't in it though). WOW.
wednesday: Megabus back to Boston, knocked out for the majority of the ride, knocked out again when we got back to Mar's. got ready and went to the REDSOX game at Fenway Pahk.. sweet caroline, bah bah bah bah!
thursday: left the apt. at 10, dunkin donuts, T to Stony Brook in Jamaica Plain to visit the Sam Adams Brewery tour (which is just OKAY, imo), headed to Haymarket to Union Oyster House for lunch (oldest restaurant in the United States!) and Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market. T'ed to Chinatown for like 10 minutes, failed to find our cheap souveneirs so headed back to Harvard Square to the previous store we had seen, back to Newbury Street, got a call from the store to pick up Tricia's lost baby, so back to Harvard Square where we just killed time til Mar got home from class, met her up at Pops Restaurant in the South End.. walked home and packed. wahh! the end!
a huge thank you to miss garcia, for being such an awesome hostess! i had a freaking great spring break, and now i'm back to the grind.. but i only have 5 weeks left, yayyy!
